Davi da Conceição has been enrolled in Nations Help’s programs since 2022 and is currently 12 years old. He lives with his family in the São Judas Tadeu settlement in Sergipe, Brazil—a community lacking basic access to water and sanitation.
Since joining the program, Davi has experienced extraordinary changes in his life, especially in recent months. Him and his family’s quality of life has improved significantly through the provision of essential resources. Today, concerns such as food scarcity are no longer as pressing for them. Davi comes from a humble family with 15 siblings, and most of them have had limited education due to the harsh conditions in which they live. Through child sponsorship, Davi and his family now receive monthly food baskets proportionate to the number of household members. More recently, we also launched an oral health program in the region, benefiting Davi and other sponsored children.
Yet, beyond these practical benefits, a major transformation in Davi’s life has been his behavior. He was once known for poor conduct—at school, at home, and in his interactions with others. At school, his classmates were often afraid to play with him or even be near him. But God’s plans for Davi were far greater than any label or limitation, and his story did not remain the same.
Marileide, the leader of our base in Sergipe, began to teach him about Jesus, discipling him and praying for him through the laying on of hands. Through this persistent care, the Holy Spirit began to transform Davi’s heart, which soon reflected in his daily actions.
Today, Davi has become an example to the other children. His presence is no longer disruptive—he interacts positively with others, is committed to his literacy journey, and receives tutoring through the Project. Now, instead of causing disorder, he helps maintain it—volunteering to tidy the classroom and assist others with a cheerful spirit. Davi’s parents were also evangelized and recently gave their lives to Christ through baptism.
Davi has also been attending local church services and has become a living testimony to the transformative and life-giving power of Jesus in his community. Despite his young age, his pursuit shows a heart that truly desires to know and love Jesus.
All of this growth is the result of God’s grace, made possible through the generosity of donors and sponsors. Sponsoring a child is a way of opening doors to life-changing opportunities.
