In Cambodian villages, an unbelievable story.
Cambodia has a governmental division in villages, communities, districts, and provinces. Two realities are perceived: villages, which are agricultural regions, and cities. The villages, where 76% of the population reside (LONELY, 2012), have a basically agricultural economy, especially around rice cultivation.
In one of the first villages I visited (2012), an unforgettable question was asked by a Cambodian leader who I had just met. At that moment, there were many children around: “do you know what they do with children like these in Cambodia?”
“Here in Cambodia, they buy a child for USD 120.00.” Many are taken to the cities and placed in bedrooms, so they drug the child, the client comes in and does whatever they want. In some cases, they film it and put on the internet to get more customers. “
I would never have imagined in my life that I would hear a story like that, and that conversation has never been forgotten! We will return to Cambodia on November 15th. We know that only Christ, with the manifestation of his love, can transform that reality.
We will be in the south of the country assisting children, assisting the Cambodian church, deepening partnerships, and our future actions in the country. We would like to invite you to join us. Contact WhatsApp +55 31 99318830, talk to Monica Porto and learn how.
“Let us be glad with delight, and let us give glory to him: because the time has come for the Lamb to be married, and his wife has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear”. Revelation. 19:7,8
