Rosália Figueredo is the mother of five children: Ângela Antonia (18), Francisco Raul (13), Juan Ramón (11), Nelson David (9), and Ronald David (7). Her father abandoned the family and is not very present. They live in the Romero Kue neighborhood, one of the most deprived areas in Pedro Juan Caballero, close to the landfill. We met Rosália and some of her children in 2018. Her determination to survive and maintain the family unit caught our attention, and we promptly decided to join her children in the Nations Help relief program.
Rosália is a landfill worker and her children, despite at a young age, often accompany her in her collection work at the dump. In one of our conversations, Rosália asked us to build a daycare center so that her children and those of other local families could stay safe while she worked. Since then, we have dreamed of acquiring land on-site, which came to fruition in 2022. We are currently preparing to start construction.
Since their inclusion in the program, the family has been assisted with food, clothes, beds, a refrigerator, and other household items that they lacked. Another significant action carried out in favor of this family was constructing a bathroom in their home on one of the last trips carried out by Nations Help to Paraguay, which made it possible to improve the health of the mother and children. The program also purchased new uniforms for children who are in school. They remain steadfast in their studies, which was practically unthinkable in their conditions before being included in Nations Help programs. Furthermore, with the program’s reinforcement classes, children have additional help for better learning and literacy. They have also participated in children’s worship on Saturdays, where they receive the Word of God and experience moments of prayer and worship of the Lord.
Some time ago, after we held meetings at their home, with discussions on repentance, salvation, and baptisms, the children asked to be baptized. The results of this discipleship have been very positive in this family’s life. Ângela Antonia (18 years old) told us she has been reading the Bible at night. She also demonstrated a desire to participate in teen projects at the Actos de Justiça church, a partner of Nations Help and a leader of actions in Paraguay. This all points to the transformative love of God entering the hearts of the Figueredo family!
The love shown by this family has been immense, to the point that some of their neighbors have begun to question and antagonize them on the spot. We know that we cannot help everyone, but we want to help those that God has sent to us.
We want to thank each person who has contributed to helping and transforming the most vulnerable children in this region. May God bless you immensely!
If you want to be part of helping children in the nations with us, sponsor a child and be a response to transforming the future of the new generation.
