We first met Ezechiel Ismé in Haiti in 2010, shortly after the devastating earthquake struck the country. At the time, he was sleeping on the floor of a pastor’s home, giving all he had to serve the local ministry in any way he could, always showing a deep love for the children of the area. With scarce resources and in a time of overwhelming hopelessness, he was all those little ones had in the Delma 31 neighborhood of Port-au-Prince.
Over the years, Ezechiel’s story took a different path—one transformed by God and increasingly shaped by the conviction of his calling and the compassion of Christ to fulfill it. He got married, built a beautiful family, and is now the father of three children. Ezechiel became a key leader in relief efforts and discipleship for many children and families, contributing to profound changes in their lives and outlooks for the future.
Together, we built a base for supporting children and families. It is now being expanded and has become a place offering vocational courses and recreational activities for children and teenagers. Despite the extreme violence Haiti is facing due to civil war, Ezechiel has persevered in love, leading these relief fronts and standing firm in the face of challenges.
His influence and the impact of his service on the nation have become evident to those around him. Recently, a council of Haitian evangelical leaders officially recognized Ezechiel as a pastor—affirming the impact of his service and spiritual leadership.
When we look at Ezechiel’s life, we see what the Gospel and the love of God can do. He was once a young man from a very poor family in the Haitian countryside—one of the countries with the lowest Human Development Index in the world. Hoping to change his future, he moved to the capital in search of opportunity, primarily through education.Today, however, he has become a great leader, secure in his identity as a child of God and fully engaged in His work on Earth—His journey is a testament to God’s redeeming love and now serves as an inspiration to a new generation.
In light of this powerful story, I want to first thank God—and each of you who have joined us in supporting highly vulnerable children across the nations, as well as in raising up leaders who reach out to these little ones. Beyond gratitude, I also want to encourage you to fully and truly surrender to Jesus, so that our testimony may continue to touch and transform more lives in this generation.
