This is my story:
My name is NELSON JEDSON, I am two years old. In February 2020 I was seen by the dentist that came to visit Haiti with the Nations Help’s team. My health condition was very serious, I had mouth sores and was so weak I could barely stand up. I was taken for medical care with the other children from Waf-Jeremie, which is one of the biggest slums in the world called Cité Soleil. It is the poorest and most dangerous place in the Haitian capital. As I was taken for the medical checkup by my pastor (from our community), I could not be admitted to the hospital, because I did not have any legal guardians with me, and the Haitian hospitals require a legal guardian to admit someone underage.
The dentist that took care of me prescribed medicine for the wounds in my mouth and the missionary Marileide was able to locate my legal guardian and I was medicated. The medicine helped heal the wounds in my mouth, but I still urgently need a full medical evaluation, which will be provided soon.
I was abandoned by my parents when they moved to the Dominican Republic and left me behind. My maternal grandmother took me in and takes care of me. She sells diapers in the streets of Port Au Prince, in order to provide for us. She gets the diapers as consignation with a security deposit, however, she is not always able to sell a lot, due to the situation in the country. I usually have only one meal per day. Some days I am able to eat in the morning, but there is nothing for me to eat at night, and other days I do not eat anything in the morning, but she is able to feed me at night. I go to pre-school so my grandma can sell diapers in the street.
Today I am being included in Nations Help’s project to improve the quality of my life.
Thank you for being an answer of love and mercy in favor of my life.
God bless!
